Alan E. Petersen

Alan E. Petersen passed away March 15, 2023 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha at the age of 72. He was born in Harlan, Iowa on January 2, 1951.
After high school, he joined the Navy from 1969-1973, serving in Vietnam. After leaving active service, he joined the Naval Reserves as an assault boat engineer, piloting many Navy Seals in training.
Leaving the Reserves, he lived in San Diego and Colorado before returning to Iowa. He married Shari Kallevig in 1988 until she passed in 2012. He enjoyed his Harley and riding with good friends, and most of all his relationship with Jennifer and his sweet dog Hoss.
He is survived by his significant other, Jennifer, brothers Gary Petersen, John Kimball, nieces, nephews and other family.
Alan is preceded in death by parents Randal and Ardith Kimball, wife Shari, brother Boone.
A military funeral will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 3 pm at Oak Hill Cemetery, Irwin, Iowa. A celebration of his life will be held at Irwin Community Center immediately after.
