Connie Anneberg

August 5, 1942 — February 11, 2025

Connie Kay Anneberg (82) of Norwalk, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Connie's death certificate will say something like complications of pneumonia, or something related, but in reality Connie died of a broken heart. The love of her life, her partner of 64 years, John Anneberg, passed away May 2024. She was devastated by his passing.

Connie came into the world August 5, 1942 in Des Moines Iowa. She graduated from North High School, class of 1960. Her and John married and had 4 children, Mary (1960), Johnny (1961 deceased 1962), Leah (1963) and Edward (1972).

Connie worked in accounting and finance from graduation until her retirement in 2000. Her most recent position was with the West Des Moines School District where she served as the Accounting Supervisor for 25 years.

Connie was a former member of the Waveland Park Eastern Star, serving many different positions for 20 years. She was also a member of Daughters of the Nile for the Netaker Temple and served as Queen from 2006 - 2007.

Connie had many talents, most notably, she was the Master of Monkey Bread. She had 9 grandchildren and every single one of them will think of monkey bread when they think of their grandma. It was a staple up at the lake every summer, every visit.

Connie was a natural caretaker. If you were in a bind, she'd help however she could. If you just got home from the hospital, she'd make you a signature Connie Casserole. If you needed a shoulder to lean on, she was there for you. She had a huge heart and she shared it with everyone.

Connie was a voracious reader, and loved a steamy romance. She would get frustrated because she couldn't delete the books off her iPad and she was so worried someone was going to think badly of her for reading trashy novels. Being such an avid reader gave her an excellent vocabulary and she was not afraid to play a 54 point word on you in Words With Friends, even if you were losing miserably.

Connie is preceded in death by her husband, John Anneberg; parents Max Ives and Betty Wiggins; sister Leslie Owen; and son John Anneberg.

She is survived by her children, Mary (Tom †) Mahoney, Leah (Joe Davis) Peed, Ed (Audra) Anneberg; grandchildren Chris Mahoney, Jon Mahoney, Michael (Brianna) Peed, Sean Peed, Stephen Peed, Nathan Peed, Adam Anneberg, Eriq Anneberg, and Andrea Anneberg; sister Vicki Medley; and nieces, nephews, and other family.

Connie will be cremated and a private Celebration of Life will take place at her lake home. There will be no visitation, but anyone wanting to express sympathy, please consider helping someone in need.
