Debbie Sue Hecht

Deborah(Debbie) Sue Hecht passed away September 18, 2024 in Bellevue, Nebraska at the age of 70 years. She was born September 15, 1954 in Oxnard, California.

A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held on Friday October 11, 2024 from 7pm-9pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church 104 Galvin Road North, Bellevue Nebraska 68005. Debbie is preceded in death by her parents Ruth (Foreman) and Robert Dahlke and ex-husband James Hecht. She is survived by her daughters Nicole Hecht and Jennifer (Dereck) Tveitbakk; grandchildren Kelsey, Makayla and Dylan Tveitbakk; sister Pam Score; nieces Sarah Score, Brie Alsbury; nephew Alan (Samantha) Score; her grand dogs; and other beloved family and friends.

Debbie grew up in in a military family and moved around before her father retired back to the Omaha Metro area. She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1973 where she met her future ex-husband, Jim. Debbie and Jim got married in 1979 and had two children; Nicole and Jennifer. They divorced in 1985 and often joked with friends and family that they had the world’s most amicable and functional divorce. They were able to remain very good friends after their divorce and even vacationed together often going camping and on motorcycle adventures across America. They remained friends until Jim’s death in 2022.  

Debbie lived her life on her own terms and loved spending time with her kids, grandchildren, family, friends, grand dogs and her “other kiddos” as she was a second mom to many others over the years. She was fiercely loved by many and will be missed just as fiercely.
