Joel Thomas Skarin

Joel Skarin, age 43, passed away peacefully March 14, 2021 at Methodist Hospital of Cancer. He was born April 1, 1977 to Ralph and Lucinda (Ely) Skarin in Plattville, WI. Joel attended the Grinnell-Newburg School in Grinnell, Iowa. For much of Joel's working career he worked at Advanced Auto Parts in Council Bluffs, IA and at Jensen Tire in Omaha, NE. He enjoyed the automobile industry and later he also started working at Werner Enterprises and worked on the big trucks in the collision department. He was there for 18 years and enjoyed his job. He was a jack of all trades, he could do almost anything he put his mind to, he was a multitasker; walked circles around people and still get the job done. He was very good with his hands and could fix anything. Joel rebuilt a car from scratch, an 89 Trans AM and after that, he had been working on rebuilding a 69 Firebird.

Joel is proceeded in death by his dad Ralph Skarin.
He is survived by his mother Lucinda (SUE) Skarin- Shook of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Candace Skarin Innis of Council Bluffs Iowa; two nephews, Donny Biggs and Devin Biggs.
Service will be at the First Presbyterian Church (1220 Bellevue Blvd S. Bellevue, Nebraska 68005) at 11:00 am on April 9th. There will be a public graveside service on May 14th, 2021 at 1:30 PM the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery in Brooklyn, Iowa.
