Kathryn Lynette (Bauer) Dick was born on August 24th, 1964 in Windom, MN. She was raised in Windom, MN, however she and her family spent most weekends at her grandparents' farm south of Lakefield, MN.
She went to Windom Public Schools and graduated in 1983. She played flute, violin, piano, and was a cheerleader in high school. After high school, she went to Grace College of the Bible in Omaha, NE. It was there that she met Dennis. They were married on May 25th, 1985 at the First Baptist Church in Windom, MN. They made their first home in Omaha, NE while Dennis finished his last year of college. Kathy worked in the business office at the college and then took a position at a sportswear store selling promotional clothing and goods.
After living for a few months in ND, they moved back to Omaha. After buying their first house, they were blessed with four children: Darrin Dean, Derrick Dennis, Kelsey Lynette, and Kendra Lynnae. While she stayed home with the kids, she worked part-time doing bookkeeping at home as well as selling Tupperware.
After the kids were all in school, Kathy worked at Ford Storage for a number of years. She later would work with commercial properties in NW Omaha. It was there that she opened Cherry Bean Coffee, a coffee and sandwich shop. She worked for various companies, all enhancing her bookkeeping and leadership skills.
In 2018, after a routine colonoscopy, she was diagnosed with stage II colon cancer. She had surgery and was given the all clear news. Just 2 years later, in May 2020 she was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer as it had metastasized in the liver and a few lymph nodes. The cancer later spread to her lungs, adrenal gland, and bones. After 3 ½ years of treatments including chemo, radiation, Y90 surgery and a few others, she became weaker and weaker.
On November 17th, 2023 at 5:15pm, with her husband Dennis of 38 years and her kids by her side, she went home to be with her Lord and Savior.
Kathy was a member of Community Bible Church in Omaha, NE and served in many areas: Women's ministry, choir, church celebrations committee, small group leader, youth sponsor, Awana, and wherever else she was needed.
She will be remembered for her infectious laugh and her sense of humor. She always greeted you with a joyous smile and a hug. She was a loyal friend to many. She was an avid scrapbooker and was always ready with a camera to capture the moment. She was a talented organizer and took joy in keeping her home clean, orderly, and always welcoming. She enjoyed camping with the family, bike rides, and spending time with her husband, kids, siblings, nieces and nephews, 13 grandkids, and many, many friends.
