Nancy (Fox) Francis and Kennard Francis
Nancy Kay (Fox) Francis was born in Bellevue, Nebraska, on August 18, 1943, the only child of George and Lucile Fox. She died in her sleep March 10, 2017, while vacationing in Mountain Home, Ark.
Kennard A. Francis was born Nov. 23, 1937, in Randolph, Neb., to Guy and Alta Francis. Ken was the youngest of three children and grew up on the family farm. He died June 6, 2017, at home surrounded by his family and pets.
Nancy grew up in Omaha and graduated from Benson High School and Methodist College of Nursing. Ken graduated from Randolph High School.
On October 3, 1964, Nancy and Ken married at St. John's Lutheran Church in Randolph. They made their home in the Omaha community. They enjoyed dancing early in their marriage and were actively involved in the dance group Country Kickers, of which they were founding members in 1981.
As a registered nurse, Nancy spent her entire career at Methodist Hospital. Ken worked for 40+ years for Tractor Supply Company in Omaha. After retirement, he volunteered for the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Throughout her life, Nancy enjoyed sewing, thrift shopping and spending time with family and friends. In retirement, she and Ken travelled often to Texas, Arkansas and Colorado, as well as throughout the country. They had visited Europe and loved to go on cruises. Ken enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, dancing, and playing cards.
Ken and Nancy were preceded in death by their parents; Ken's sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Kenneth Rath; Ken's sister, Lucille Rath; Ken's great-niece, Maggie Rath; and Ken's niece, Sharon Bose.
Nancy and Ken are survived by their son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Shannon Francis of Omaha; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Robert Garcia of McAllen, Texas; grandsons Mitchell Francis, Justin Garcia, Wyatt Francis, Jaime Garcia, Jason Feldman and Brandon Babe; granddaughters Hailey Garcia and Victoria Vance; great-granddaughter Emma Vance; brother-in-law Gerald Rath; several nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Bushwacker's Dance Hall in Ralston, Thursday, June 15, 4-6 pm. Appetizers will be served. Please RSVP
