Melissa M Cowan

Melissa M. Cowan, age 61, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2023. She was born November 8, 1961, and lovingly adopted by Arthur and Sarah Henrie living in Birmingham, MI.

After the family moved to Jackson, Michigan she spent her formulative years excelling in tennis and the marching band. Melissa attended George School in Newtown PA. In 1979 she moved to Colorado to attend the University of Denver and University of Colorado-Denver. After graduation she remained in Colorado. Melissa was a dynamic person and excelled in multiple careers including publishing with Intertec, event planning with Google, Sketchup and Webroot and non-profit with Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson.

Everyone that met Melissa found her to be an extraordinary fun and kind person. She was a loving person with a take charge approach to life. Melissa enjoyed live music, dancing, skiing, camping in the Rockies and any animal in need of love. Her pride and joy was her family and friendships, both new and old that she treasured the most. She never missed a special event for any family member or friend. Melissa was most happy to share, experience and support all the treasured people in her life.

Melissa is survived by her husband of 30 years John, parents, Arthur and Sarah Henrie of Newtown PA. She was preceded in death by her brother Judson Henrie.

Celebration of life services will be held in the fall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ASPCA and/or The American Lung Association.
