Myra Jean (Scholten) Tobin was born November 16, 1953 in Brookings, South Dakota to Tony and Jean (Hietbrink) Scholten.
She grew up in Brookings, Aberdeen, Pierre and graduated high school from Aberdeen Central High. Myra was an outstanding athlete at Central High setting state records in track.
Myra began college at Northern State College studying Health Physical Education and Recreation. She participated in field hockey, volleyball, basketball and track becoming a letter winner. After her sophomore year Myra continued her education at South Dakota State University. Myra Captained the Field Hockey team and also participated in basketball, track becoming a letter winner at SDSU. Myra graduated from SDSU with a HPER major and biology minor.
Myra married Robert Tobin and she traveled the world as an Army wife and mother. Myra was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had an incredible love for Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior.
Myra was a substitute teacher, warehouseman and a paraprofessional. She was an avid Bible Scholar and participated in many Bible Studies.
Myra was proceeded in death by her parents and grandparents.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Robert (Julie) Tobin, Amy (significant other John Barron) Lutzow, Stephan (Sara) Tobin; grandchildren, Garrett and Blake Tobin, Alyssa and Andrew Lutzow, Alexandria Barron, Cooper and Tessa Tobin; sisters, Sandra (Marvin) Lauer, Gail (George) Jensen and twin sister, Mary (Jay) Smith; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
VISITATION TUESDAY, 9:00 am, at Westwood Community Church, 13056 Atwood Ave., Omaha. Memorial service Tuesday, 10:30 am, at the church. Memorials may be directed to LIFEhouse Partnership Food Bank.
