Neva Burroughs

April 17, 1936 — November 21, 2024

Neva Marie Burroughs went to be with Jesus 11/21/24. she was blessed with salt of the earth parents. Fredrick John Moore and Mary Kathryn (Powers) Moore, born to them 4/17/36 in Fremont County, Riverton, Iowa. Also born to this marriage was Homer J. Moore, Omaha, Nebraska and Kay Moore (Jackson) Rock Port, MO.

Neva did normal things in life in the 1940s, going to church, graduated High School, participating in typical High School activities. Married Earl Cowles her senior year of High School 1952 and was the mother of four children, Chris, Colleen, Alan and Lyle. They later moved to the family farm east of Hamburg mid 1950s.

In 1967 she moved into Hamburg with the kids. Neva worked at Grape Community Hospital for 10 years. She also served as a secretary to Hamburg School board for two years.

In 1977, along came Clair Burroughs, they married and moved to Omaha. She inherited four loving step children, Tony, Renee, Tom and Tim. She worked at UNMC and was a very active member of Eastern Star serving as Worthy Matron. She was very proud of that and life was good. Clair passed in March 2024.

She enjoyed her friendships, activities and family outings while at Heritage Point Assisted living in Omaha for 2 1/2 years.

Neva had marvelous care at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha the last six weeks of her sweet life.

Neva loved all in life. the list was long. Her kids want all to know she was the "Rock" of the family. That is all that they needed and "everything will be alright".

Keeping her memory and soul alive are Chris (Jerry) Block, Colleen (Randy) Moore, Alan (Lisa) Cowles, Lyle (Ann) Cowles and Renee Aurora, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, beloved nieces, brother and sister.

Her family wants everyone to know that their mom was always kind, had great humor, loved a good conversation and was always in a good mood.

The memorial service will be Sunday 12/22/2024 at First Central Congregational Church 421 S 36th St, Omaha, NE 68131 at 12:30pm with interment at Mt. Zion Utterback, Riverton, IA.
