Virginia K. Poole, 79, Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2020 at the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
Virginia, known as Kay to her family and friends, was born October 3, 1940 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Arthur and Bernice (Forman) Neighbors. Along with her older brother, Dennis, the family moved to Grand Island, Nebraska when Kay was 9. It was in Grand Island that Kay met and married her husband of 41 years, Richard H. Poole. Kay and Richard moved to Council Bluffs in 1961. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at Council Bluffs Care Center in Council Bluffs and eventually worked for the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA). Kay retired from the VNA in 2007.
Kay was proceeded in death by her parents, brother, and husband. She is survived by daughters Theresa Slayman of Carter Lake, Iowa; Tracy Pitt of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and son Andrew (Robin) Poole of Carter Lake, Iowa. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. They will forever remember her love of sunflowers and holiday-themed jewelry.
Guests are welcome to join the family for a Celebration of Kays life on July 31st, from 11 am to 1 pm at the Queen of Apostles Church Hall, located at 3304 4th Avenue, Council Bluffs, Iowa. Committal will follow at 2 pm, Omaha National Cemetery, located 14250 Schram Rd., Omaha, NE. 68138.
