William "Bill" Martin Fahl passed away January 18, 2025 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 69 years. He was born June 28, 1955 in Coos Bay, Oregon. He bounced around the country as a child due to his Dad's job but ultimately landed and settled into the Bay Area where he met the love of his life, Virginia. After they married and welcomed a daughter, they relocated to Omaha NE and welcomed their other daughter. He had a long and successful career in Manufacturing Quality Assurance before retiring.
Bill loved having a good time and always made sure the people around him were having a good time too. He loved to joke and tease, always playful, always in good fun. He was always moving and engaged in everything around him. His sarcasm and sense of humor shined through almost every interaction he had.
He loved sports and always wanted to “make things interesting”, never anything high dollar, just a little competition to provide an excuse for smack talk. Bill was a coordinator, always looking for an activity to get the family together. This meant a lot of concerts, brewery visits, golf outings, and dinners at the house cooked on the grill. In prior years this had included camping, softball and bowling leagues with his work buddies, and NASCAR races throughout the country.
Bill’s family, both traditional and found, meant the world to him; he was a proud family man. Nothing made him happier than being “King Dad” to his immediate family. There was a lot of laughter and love in the house. He was an involved and loving husband, father, and grandfather who didn't miss a game- he even got involved in coaching and coordinating some of the teams.
He and Virginia kept a welcoming home particularly around the holidays. Bill loved hosting, he’d be sure to offer you a drink and have you make yourself at home. If you were lucky enough to visit on the right day he’d send you away with some homemade beef jerky or garden fresh salsa. Bill would find out your interests, remember them, and the next time you saw him he'd have learned a little bit about them so you could have a conversation.
He always had a project and/or side hustle going; from entire side gigs to building things for the house he and Virginia loved so much, collecting scrap metal for extra cash, scouring the internet for any deal he could, and ran his own little eBay store. He had quite the entrepreneurial spirit. Other than his family and friends, there was nothing he loved more than a good deal.
Bill wasn't one for waiting around or being idle. He wanted to keep moving on to the next thing. One phrase he often used was “let's get the show on the road" and that's precisely what he said and did after a bad fall that left him immobile. He chose to get going on to the next thing rather than waiting around idly.
Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Darlene Fahl.
He is survived by his wife and light of his eye of 41 years, Virginia Fahl; daughters Jennifer (John) Murray and Melissa Fahl; grandson James Raumaker; father Gary (Ginny) Fahl; sister Christine (Glenn) Fahl; and nephews, other family, friends, and his beloved dogs, Charlotte and Lady.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers or memorials please pour yourself a drink and watch a game or race in his honor- just make sure you DVR it and start a bit later so you can fast forward through the ads like he did!
